For a lot of people finding out they are expecting a baby can be an immensely exciting time. Therefore, it is only natural to want to share that joy with loved ones. We all know life can be unpredictable at times and we often see parents coming along to us for an early reassurance scan from 6 weeks, before they make the announcement. This allows the parents to get some reassurance that the pregnancy is progressing in the expected way and is on schedule for an estimated due date.
For a lot of people using the first day of their last period to date the pregnancy is not a precise indicator to gestational age due to every woman and their menstrual cycles being different. All of our scans are performed by Jill, our sonographer and owner who has vast experience both in the NHS and private sector. This means you can ask her any questions you may have whilst being safe in the knowledge that you are in good hands.
With the early scan we provide a couple of prints of your precious baby in a keepsake wallet for you to treasure. Should you wish to give a photo print to a family member or friend as a gift or as an announcement there is also the option of purchasing more prints to take away with you. If the excitement of seeing your baby on screen for the first time makes it hard to remember exact details of the scan, then you are in luck as we provide a report for all of our early scans to take away with you for future reference.
Alternatively, we are happy to welcome grandparents, family and friends into the scan room with yourself in line with government guidance, to share in this special experience. A great option many choose for this would be to come first as a couple to find out about the baby and then bring loved ones along with them for a second or third scan.
The initial early pregnancy scan is £55 with any subsequent early pregnancy scans costing £39. This can also be a great option for parents who are anxious in the early weeks and we see many couples come to us a few times within the first trimester to see baby. An early scan or any repeat early scans can be performed up until 14 weeks.
